It’s Never Too Late – Our Student’s Stories

It is easy to get caught up in our current situations and set aside our dreams. Maybe we don’t have the courage, the support, or the time we think we need to take a leap of faith and go after what we want.

But these three special women decided they were tired of waiting and setting aside their passions. So, they took a chance and enrolled in beauty school at Mason Anthony School of Cosmetology, proving that it is never too late to go after what you want in life.

Carol’s Story

“My Father passed away approximately 4 years ago. Since then I have moved in with my mom to help her out. While here, I started dabbling with nail dipping from home. Family and friends started coming to me to create nails. And suddenly I had an epiphany that I should go to school and become certified. But then the doubt started sinking in, “Carol, you turn 60 in February and you want to start a new career in nails?”

Then I pushed those thoughts down and started thinking & praying, “Why not? You can have your own little shop!”

Before deciding on which school to attend, I did a lot of research. Through all my searches, I kept coming back to Mason Anthony. I set up an appointment and after checking it out wanted to start right away! And I am so glad that I did.

I’m the oldest in the whole school but they all treat me like the rest of them! I’m so blessed to have found Mason Anthony. They are so helpful, and they strive to help me succeed!”

Robin’s Story

“I have worked in retail for nearly 20 years. Although I love customer service, the environment doesn’t inspire me. I felt like I had no real transferable skills, so I felt like I was forever stuck in a dead-end job. When my mom got sick and passed away, I realized I didn’t want to waste the time I have working in a job that left me feeling unfulfilled and emotionally drained.

Skin has always interested me, so I decided to follow my passion for Esthetics, which led me to Mason Anthony.

Mason Anthony was the most affordable school for someone like me; a person making a mid-life career change who didn’t want to accrue school debt. It’s been a great experience here and I feel like I am finally following my passion and making my mom proud.”

Kathleen’s Story

“Cosmetology is something I have always wanted to do. Previously, I lacked confidence to pursue this dream. Looking back over the years, I have noticed that every job I have had (business owner, home health aide, dance instructor, customer service) has shaped me into the person I am today – confident, outgoing, willing to serve, risk taker.

With these traits and the encouragement and support from my husband and daughter (who is a licensed cosmetologist) I was finally ready to go after my dream. Here I am, 30 years later, doing what I have always wanted to do at Mason Anthony.”
